Visas

Ok, so you have chosen the countries you want to go travelling to, but now you need to check if you will need a visa for the country or not depending on what nationality you are. Certain countries will have agreements allowing their citizens to travel to each others countries with little or no required action needed regarding visas, otherwise you will need to apply for a visa through various methods which we will talk about below.

How To Find Out If You Need A Visa

Finding out whether you need a visa or not is important, and its advised to check this early on in your planning as if you do need a visa for a certain country - sometimes it can take months to process your application. There is a recommended link at the bottom of this article which will tell you what the visa/entry requirements are for each country in the world. This is meant as a guide, please search online for the official embassy or consulate website for the country you wish to visit to confirm that it is up to date information.

When Will The Visa Expire And What Are The Conditions?

There can be many types of visa, tourist visas, working holiday visas, and working visas. Its important to apply for the visa that applies to you. Don't go to somewhere like Australia on a tourist visa and end up working there - they will throw you out! If you want to work somewhere like Australia for a period of time to boost funds while travelling - apply for a working holiday visa. So apply for the right visa for you, and remember to check how long it is valid for - don't plan to visit a country for 2 months if the visa is only valid for 1 month, otherwise you will have problems!

Need To Visit A Consulate/Embassy For A Visa?

Have you found out that you need to visit the consulate or embassy to apply for a visa for any of the countries you are hoping to travel to? We have a few tips for you:

  • Get there early in the morning - queues can get quite long, so try to get near the front of the queue by getting there early to reduce waiting time
  • Smarten up and be polite - There is a possibility you may be rejected just because they don't like you!
  • Do double check you have everything with you for your application - the required number of passport photos, valid passport, and check you have filled the application form in correctly!

Lastly....

Visas are there for a reason, there are certain rules in force when you are allowed into a foreign country, so please abide by them. Leave before your visa expires and don't work there if you don't have the visa allowing you to - otherwise you may be banned from entering that country for a certain period of time, even banned for forever!
